Useful AddOns
Here is a list that I (Nahera) use and find very useful in the game. I've posted a link to where you can download them along with some basic information about them.
1. Quest Helper
What It Does
Compiles a list of waypoints for the quests in your quest log, and sorts them so as to minimize the distance between them, and so that they happen in the correct order.
Which is to say, it tells you how to complete all your quests while walking as little as possible.
Usage
For the most part, you just install it and leave it alone. It should hopefully be smart enough to do The Right Thing™, and not require you to meddle with it.
Minimap
The task QuestHelper thinks you should do first is displayed on your minimap, which you can mouse over for a description. If the task isn't in your current zone, then it will point towards where QuestHelper thinks you should go to get there, such as a flight master or the zone border.
World Map
All the tasks QuestHelper wants you to do are displayed on the World Map. There are 'marching ants' connecting the objectives, showing you the order QuestHelper thinks you should complete them in.
You can right click on an objective to get a list of options for it.
There is also a QuestHelper button in the upper right corner of the World Map. You can click it to hide QuestHelper temporarily, or right-click it for a menu of general options.
2. Auctioneer
Auctioneer is an addon that allows you to view information about an item that may be useful in helping you determine what it's worth.
Straight out of the box, Auctioneer knows much about many items in the game, and will tell you many things about the item when you move your mouse over the item in the game.
Right at the start, the information that is provided (via the Informant addon) to the user is:
An example tooltip:
- Linen Cloth
- Buy 3 (0.55 each) 1s65c
- Sell 3 (0.13 each) 39c
- Stacks in lots of 20
- Class: Trade Goods
- Used for: Smithing, First Aid,Engineering, Tailoring
- Quest items in 4 quests
So what does this tell the user ?
- It tells the user that they are looking at the item "Linen Cloth"
- The buy price (that you can buy this item from vendors for) for three of these items is 1 silver and 65 coppers. (which is 55 coppers each)
- The sell price (that you can sell this item back to the vendors for) for three of these items is 39 coppers. (which is 13 coppers each)
- This item can be stacked together up to a maximum stack size of 20 items
- Blacksmithing , First aid , Tailoring and Engineering professions all use this item in their trades.
- It is a quest-item in 4 quests.
Note: Items that you may not actually be able to buy from vendors still have a value in the game. This value determines things like deposit price and starting price at the auction house and repair costs for durability damage.
3. Titan Panel

5. Mailbox Complete
For those who do alot of AHing this is the best addon for you. It allows you to click a button and everything will open and go into your inventory. It also allows you to create a contact list, see who's in your guild, etc.

Click the Image to Enlarge.
6. SpamMeNot
pamMeNot detects and blocks gold spammers.
It analyzes the incoming message and weighs each word (or part of a word) as specified in the locale file. If the total weight is greater than or equal to 100 then the message is blocked.
It will also keep a (frequently purged) internal history of messages from players and will analyze the last 3 messages as a whole to counter spammers that split their adverts in to several messages.
Messages via /whisper /say /shout and any system global channels that do not pass the filter will not show up in your chat boxes. It does not monitor player created channels. You can chose whether or not to monitor the trade channel.
Now incorporates Blizzard's new spam reporting system.
You can view indivual spammer details to see what text they sent and how they scored if you so desire.
SpamMeNot also includes a level based filter so that players that attempt to contact you via whispers, that are under the specified level (default 2), will also be blocked. Setting this to 1 in effect disables this functionality.
It's also compatible with FuBar, WIM, ForgottenChat, Cellular and uses Ace2.
